Q01How does AI add audio to a video?
The model watches your frames — motion, objects, environment — and generates a soundtrack that matches what's happening on screen, synced to the action. You can optionally steer it with a text description. The result comes back as a normal MP4 with the audio already merged, so there's nothing to line up in an editor.
Q02Is this different from adding music to a video?
Yes. Music overlay tools paste a song over your clip. This generates scene-aware sound effects and ambience — footsteps when someone walks, waves when there's water, room tone that matches the space. For background music you can describe it in the prompt (e.g. "soft piano ambience"), but the strength here is realistic, synced sound.
Q03What video formats and lengths are supported?
MP4 and MOV, up to 100MB, in any aspect ratio — landscape, square or vertical 9:16 all work and the output keeps your original resolution and framing. Standard quality handles videos up to 30 seconds; Premium goes up to 60 seconds. The price is per second of video — you see the exact credit cost before you generate.
Q04Is it free to add audio to a video?
New accounts get free credits to try it. After that it's pay-per-use: Standard costs 2 credits per second of video and Premium costs 8. A typical 8-second AI clip costs 16 or 64 credits, and failed generations are automatically refunded.
Q05Which quality should I choose?
Premium won our blind listening tests for realism and sync, handles up to 60 seconds, and is the recommended default. Standard is great when you're iterating quickly on short drafts and want to spend fewer credits per try. The side-by-side section above lets you hear both on the same clip.
Q06Does it work on AI-generated videos?
That's the main use case. Videos from AI generators — including everything made on this site — come out silent. Every video card here has an Add Audio button that drops the clip straight into this tool, so you can generate, add sound, and download in one flow.
Q07Will it add voices or dialogue?
No — it generates sound effects, ambience and foley, not speech. If your clip shows someone talking you may get crowd murmur or room tone, but not intelligible words. To make a photo or character actually speak with lip sync, use our Talking Photo tool instead.
Q08Can I keep my video's original audio?
Not yet. The generated track replaces whatever audio the file had, so the tool is best for silent clips or clips whose audio you want to throw away. If you need the original dialogue kept, add the generated video as a second track in your editor and mix them.
Q09Can I use the audio commercially?
Yes. The sound is generated fresh for your video — nothing is sampled from a library — and you can use the result in ads, client work, social posts and monetized channels. No attribution needed.
Q10Does this extract or remove audio from a video?
No. This is a video-to-audio generator: it creates a new soundtrack for footage that has none. It won't rip the MP3 out of a video or strip an existing track. If that's what you need, a basic video converter will do it.
